For those of you who are going to be on Long Island or in the city this Friday, I strongly recommend checking out our pillow fight!
Right now 505 people are definitely coming from Facebook alone, 420 maybes and 1,200 haven't responded yet!!!! That is so crazy! There are probably going to be over a thousand people there, if not thousands! *wow!*
So really, just jump on the LIRR this Saturday for a massive pillow fight in Union Square, 2 PM. It is going to be so much fun :)
I am overjoyed at James Reihing's decision to publish the next version of Disillusionment!
For those who don't know or don't remember, Disillusionment 1.0 was an underground newspaper published in Cold Spring Harbor High School by me and Greg Reihing, James' older brother, among other very important people.
This makes me so happy I cannot even express it! High school activism is so hopeful and awesome, and I am just totally in awe that the paper has been revived. It almost makes me want to start writing again :)
I am so in love with this place... huge room, high ceilings, located in an art gallery(!) situated on top of an art supply store. The Queen streetcar is steps from the door and the neighborhood is awesome. Lots of cute little shops and trendy galleries, along with some electro dance parties in renovated hotels.
Now time for vacation!
August 17th - 22nd: Vancouver August 22nd - 27th: San Francisco August 28th - September 5th: Burning Man September 5th - 9th: New York
I just discovered that I am distantly related to the 12th and 32nd presidents of the United States, Zachary Taylor and FDR respectively, through our common Mayflower ancestor Isaac Allerton. Neat!
Oh yeah! I am coming home tomorrow until Monday! Not really enough time for anything, I know :( And I am having trouble finding my NY cell... but hopefully I will see some of you. Pick up your phones!
Tomorrow night: Board a bus from New York to Toronto! Thursday afternoon: Arrive in Toronto! Friday: Purple Heaven? Tuesday: Return to New York Next weekend: Whistle! in Philadelphia Next Sunday: Return to Toronto! Following Tuesday: Fly to London Following Wednesday: Fly to Milan, Italy Then: Switzerland!
Until 1927, there was a trolley that connected the Long Island Railroad's three lines. I propose we re-build it. Now for a friends page-breaking image!
I'm coming home on Thursday! This time I will be home for two months, with a few breaks in between for Toronto and Philadelphia. I can't wait to see all of you :)
Over the weekend I went to a Spa in northern Ontario where I receieved massages and got to bask in the glory of relaxation and wellness. How did I pay for this $2,000 getaway package? By winning a contest!
Speaking of contests, that Swatch flashmob contest is drawing to a close pretty soon. They have hinted that they think the winner is going to be a Canadian, and since Newmindspace is the only group from Canada that entered, I think Switzerland is soon too! (Although it is a little Italian-speaking town in south Switzerland, which is not nearly as exciting as Geneva or Bern)
If you want to see some ill subway party footage, check it out.
Right now I am drinking a Mill St. Organic, perhaps the tastiest beer ever! There is a great video from the Dr. Seuss-themed subway party on Tuesday here.
I am coming back to Long Island sometime in early May. I will be staying for two months! Crazy! Then it's back to school in July and part of August. At the end of August it's off to Burning Man! So excited! Before that, though, is a trip to Vancouver and San Francisco, which will hopefully be really, really great. I have to find somewhere to hot air balloon as well.
I have a job interview tomorrow! The company is called ePassporte and they want a web designer. I don't think they realize how old (or young) I am, but they liked my résumé enough to call me for an interview. They even said they could pay me off the books to cover my immigration situation :)
The building is at the corner of King & Princess, how regal is that?!
Today, the founder of NYGames.net, my friend Mike DiRoma, was killed in a car accident. Mike came to every game of Manhut and Capture the Flag I hosted, and eagerly took over running the games when I left. Now he is gone and New York has lost a great soul :(
I found an iPod nano case on the ground. I was so torn, should I pick it up because the inside is made of faux suede? Or should I leave it there in case somebody comes looking for it? Is their iPod scratched now? Am I to blame?!
There's a party tonight at the Labrynth Lounge. I usually only go there on Wednesdays for the cheap martinis ($3.75 apple twist, bitches) but apparently there is some kind of hybrid bar/rave there tonight.
There are lots and lots of pictures up from yesterday's pillow fight in union square (on flickr) but if you don't want to sift through them, check out this absolutely insane panorama:
